Chicago Strikes Back: Bravo Crackhead Maureen Ryan Demonstrates Knife Technique on Padma Lakshmi

Normally, Chicago Tribune television critic Maureen Ryan is a benevolent, quasi-Kabbalistic observer and lover of things Bravo, Project Runway in particular.

Not so much for Top Chef, especially when it comes to host Padma Lakshmi. In an
article from yesterday entitled, "'Top Chef' lacks the right recipe and list of ingredients," Ryan goes Chi-town on the Lakshmi posterior:
- The preening, pouting Padma Lakshmi is possibly the worst, most inept TV host of all time (with the exception of the comically wooden Season 1 "Top Chef" host Katie Lee Joel). How does Lakshmi manage to combine simpering self-regard with an almost complete lack of talent? I just don't know. I guess that's a skill of some kind.
Not bad for a first try, Maureen, possum. Just keep sharpening those knives for Season Three.

Pothead Padma is stoned all the time. That's why she's always slurring her words and acting drunk. Half-baked weed fiend. I don't think anyone on the show takes her seriously. They just laugh at her clothes.

personally, i like padma. although, sometimes i wish that she would keep her mouth shut and let the judges discuss.

It's funny, but last season, the chefs did respect Kathy Lee Joel. I know Harold, Leanne, Dave, Tiff... they all spoke highly of her.

This season, none of the chefs respect Padma. They always diss her in interviews. Tim and Gail ignore her opinions.

What is Padma's purpose? She just sits there and acts stoned. And wears those tacky outfits. A woman in her 30's with her belly button hanging out. What a joke.

They need to find a new host. Someone more switched on...and drug-free.

She also slammed Tom C and Marcel. She really has no use for the show at all. Why just pick out the anti-Padma quote?
Isn't all of the anti-Padma nonsense getting old? she is the LEAST of the show's problems this year.

Has anyone checked out the TC "round-table" audio at Chow? I found the comments interesting, some from folks who have actually interviewed the contestants. A variety of perspectives about this season on many fronts.
