Las Guayabas

Of course, we didn't just have tamales for breakfast. There was also a licuado, or milkshake, made with red and yellow guavas from our own backyard, the most insistent and evocative of perfumes. Not for nothing did Gabriel García Márquez call one of his books El olor de la guayaba, or The Scent of Guavas.
