Playing Chicken with Fauxmicah as Snobbery Karma Ketchups Up to Her and We Search for a Colonel of Truth

Yes, possums, like a bat out of hell, meatloaf-making Micah Edelstein was pykagged tonight.

You ought to have heard the cackling and clucking when Micah announced, ever so disdainfully, "I'm from South Africa, I've never eaten fried chicken." Miss XaXa could barely contain herself, "No she di'n't! Her chicken's gonna get fried tonight."

As you may remember, thanks to a faithful Amuse-Biatch reader, earlier this week we broke the story of Micah's grade school and high school years in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. With her statement, Fauxmicah would have us believe that she spent at least seven years in the Massachusetts public school system without tasting fried chicken. To which we say, Ha! Pull our other leg, Micah; it's got bells on.

Wayward and Biatchstein did a little investigation, and we found a Kentucky Fried Chicken right in Bridgewater, located at 218 Broad Street. There is also a KFC at 985 Belmont Street in Brockton, and Brockton also has a Crown Fried Chicken. Middleboro has Fisher's Chicken House and Justins Chicken House. And there are KFCs in South Africa.

Well, perhaps it's true that she's never eaten fried chicken, but if so, it's not because she's from South Africa; it's because she's chosen not to.

On tonight's episode, she made it sound as if she were a recent immigrant, as if she had just moved to the States a few years ago with $400, a suitcase, and her baby daughter, whereas she had spent her youth in quaint old Bridgewater. She also said she had lived in the Bahamas and was quite familiar with conch, and yet for the life of her could not pry the little critters from their shells, hammering and poking at them with scissors as if it were a Jim Carrey routine. And then there was the duplicity about the lamb from last week's episode. All of this leads us to believe that she has truly earned her nickname. Goodbye, Fauxmicah, and good luck.

She also said, "You Americans like catsup on your meatloaf." as if we were foreign to her, or she to us.

Karma Ketchups to her. Way too funny.

I was choking on my lemonade everytime she spoke. It was all so delicious.

Who cares where she is from, she is on top chef to cook. I thought we were suppose to be judging their food not their personal life. I personally thought Micah did a very good job and i dont think she should have been eliminated.

I went to school with Micah as well. She never had an accent. Your blog is too funny. I too was yelling/laughing at the TV saying "LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!" Why would someone do that? I guess maybe to make a name for herself. What kind of a name is that?

I dont care whether she is from Africa or not. I admire her for how well she did in all the challenges and for how much smarter she was than the others. Every time they would all do something, she would do the complete opposite and did 10 times better because she did things her way which turned out to work better for her than what the others did. She was more original and that is what gave her the edge to be so much better than the other chefs.----amanda

"how well she did in all the challenges?"
Amanda, are you her Sister?? Micah was in the bottom 3 more than once...stop defending her, it's so clear she was trying to make herself out to be something she is not!

I am giving my personal opinions ok. You obviously dont like her and thats fine, but i do and i just didnt agree with the judges decisions on alot of the challenges. And if i remember correctly, she won the very first challenge. "Trying to be something shes not" she deliberatly did things her way. She even stated several times why she chose to do things differently. And no i am not her sister, and i dont want to be a bitch either. I just think people should back off a little and maybe not be so accusing of someone they dont even know.

After seeing the yearbook stuff, I was so offended that she would play this snobbish, "Oh, you Americans like ketchup" and "I've never seen this blob of meat before." I wanted her to go so bad, because I couldn't listen to her stupid phony accent.

Amanda, while I realize that reality TV often doesn't have anything to do with reality, I still don't appreciate out-and-out liars, especially when it's so easy to figure out and she played up her lie. It was okay when it was thought that maybe Bravo had done it to make her appear more exotic, but no. She's just a liar. And to add insult to injury, she makes up a new ethnicity, and then bashes the country from which she came and who makes up the audience. Loser.

Amanda, you're defending somebody you don't know......or do you? ;)

It's all pretty simple really.
3 episodes
6 challenges (3 QF, 3 Elim)
I'm fairly certain Micah was in the bottom 3 times, that's 50%! One of the cheftestants said it best last night "Micah is inconsistant."

So I'm bewildered as to how you can make the comment:
"I admire her for how well she did in all the challenges and for how much smarter she was than the others."

So, ok, you're not her Sister, maybe her Mother!?! ;)

And how smart can she be? I mean putting herself on display on national TV without thinking about the fact her life in MA would be exposed. Micah = poser. duh.

She never said "You Americans like ketchup...," she just said "Americans like ketchup..." Watch the show again before you continue to misquote her.

This is just pathetic, i am having to argue with a person who wont even put their name on a computer screen, defending a person that had the strength to go on TV in front of a million people and compete. Now who does that make a poser cause you sound fairly pathetic compared to the person you hate so much. And how many times do i have to spell it out for you, I said "In my opinion I thought she did good". That doesnt mean you, the judges or anyone else has to agree with me. I liked how she tried to be original and different than the other chefs and i liked the dishes she made. And maybe you will be a little more mature(if its not to difficult for you) and stop trying to offend me by calling me her sister or her mother and grow a backbone and understand that some people will have different opinions than you and that you just have to deal with it. Now hopefully you understood me this time and I wont have to type it all again cause my hands are starting to get tired from explaining things to you so much.----amanda

Bruce:
Whether she said, "Americans like ketchup" or "You Americans like ketchup" she is still referring to Americans in the third person, as a group she is not part of.
She has more courage than I even to have thought of competing on a cooking show. She is more well traveled than I however, people are unavoidably reacting to the jarring effect of falseness in her presentation of herself.

When you add that reaction to the concept that a person who is actually one of us is pretending not to be one of us there is the implication that we are not up to par. This results in a double dose of mild viewer indignation.

Viewer reaction was just instinctive. I'm sure everyone wishes her well.

Well, dahlings, it is reality t.v., after all, and our Micah forgot one teensy, eensy fact: It's hard to lie and get away with it these days. However, it has been some years since she graduated from High School. Has she lived in South Africa for any length of time since then? My girlfriend has lived in Germany all her married life and now has a slight German accent. And look at Madonna. Poor dear has dropped her noble American accent and traded it for a faux Brit one.

I'm inclined to give Fauxmicah the benefit of the doubt. And I agree with jdepp10-our Micah came to cook. And when she was splendid, my mouth watered.

Uh, Micah, "just a round slab of ground beef" is called a hamburger. Oh, I forgot they don't have hamburgers in South Africa.

Ah yes, the fine cuisine of South Africa: Biltong, fried mutton and tomatoes... SA's "comfort food" has nothing on American comfort food.

She has clearly benefited from the American tendency to think that anyone with an accent comes from a more sophisticated culture.

The look on the faces of the judges table when she said "you Americans like ketchup..." was priceless.

You knew that they were not going to let her get away with that bs -- and when she got the lowest rating it was total karma ketchup.

Micah is FULL of ketchup!

She confirmed on a Podcast (Chow.com) that she has indeed prepared meatloaf before: turkey meatloaf for a client!

Well, it sounds like she had a "tried and true" recipe to use....AND especially since this elimination challenge was to create healthier alternatives to gold old fashioned comfort food.....hello, turkey vs. ground beef, duh, lower cholesterol, calories, etc.....then why didn't she prepare turkey meatloaf?

She’s the turkey! Or, is she the chicken!?! ;)

OH MY GOD!!!! shes not a turkey, shes not a chicken, she is a cook. Why cant people get off her back just because she wasnt perfect all the time.

She's South African, but her accent is more Australian than anything else. She's a pretentious little scumbag, and I hope to god that she isn't South African because I'm South African, and I want to kick her teeth in. Her accent is about as South African as a japanese d*ck.
