Amuse-Biatch Gentle, Beatific Fingerwagging: To the Winner Goes the Spoiler

Possums, just a little plea on behalf of those people who didn't read the last few pages of Agatha Christie's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and then started reading at the beginning.

Yes, we have heard all about the Top Chef spoiler, the big, job-imperiling whoopsie-daisy by Food & Wine magazine revealing who the winner is.

But for the sake of those who don't want to know just who killed Roger Ackroyd (or framed Roger Rabbit) or what "Rosebud" is until the end, please don't post the spoilers in the comments section. You can whisper all your naughty secrets in our ear via e-mail, but let us leave at least one unspoilt pleasure for those who are not as sulphurously jaundiced as we. D'accord, possums?

Can we vent about the winner in THIS section? That would contain all the griping about the spoiler to one post.

Was this published in their print magazine or just online (or both)? And for those people who want to know the spoiler, where should they turn?

i put on my tin foil chapeau and here's what i think :

bravo knew that after the recent Hairgate, viewers were dropping off faster than head lice off Brittany. no one really cared who won anymore.

food and wine magazine - one of the rare culinary giants to be associated with TC - got a scoop.

food and wine "erroneously" posts the scoop in advance. shock! does anyone otherwise click on FandW? does anyone really care at this point who takes TC?

resolution - happy happy for all. food and wine gets hits. TC gets some much needed publicity to cover it's poorly taken season. everyone can get worked into a frenzy before the money shot! TADA!

damn, these tin foil hats do a number on the coiffure.

"bravo knew that after the recent Hairgate, viewers were dropping off faster than head lice off Brittany. no one really cared who won anymore."

I haven't read that the ratings fell after the clipper shit. Where'd you hear that? This season's ratings have actually been really good.

A craptacular end to a craptacular season. I'm not even going to bother with next season since Bravo has turned into the Asshole Network.

This is obviously a big a deal. F&W is now claiming they wrote a profile for both finalists and one got posted by mistake.

Food and Wine is at it AGAIN, this time with an article about the other chef...allegedly they did winner stories on both, and one accidentally got posted. Yeah right. The crap that Bravo unintentionally smeared itself with this season has now soiled Food and Wine.

Maybe they are worried about the site on the internet that encourage people who are upset with TC2 to cancel they subscriptions to F&W. I also read that Sears is not very happy about the assault on Marcel being televised. Appearly, Corp head quarters does not like being associated with bullies.

Can you provide a link/source for your comment with respect to Sears' (Kenmore) displeasure with the Marcel attack? If true, I'm glad to hear it.

However, if Ilan does outcook Marcel tomorrow night and, as a result, wins the competition, precisely what is this supposedly displeased Sears -- let alone Bravo -- willing to do about it? Although I won't hold my breath for any displays of moral conscience, it would be fantastic TV (and on so many levels) if Sears or Bravo would take some kind of public stand against the kind of aggression Ilan and the others (and not just Cliff) engaged in before this sad season of TC comes to a close. Such a gesture would certainly go a long way toward restoring the show's and Bravo's reputations.

It would also be a nod to justice. In my view, justice demands that Ilan pay a price for his central role in the attack on Marcel, and a good way to exact that price might be for Sears either to withdraw the Kenmore Kitchen equipment from Ilan's prize winnings, or to transfer the equipment to Marcel.

If I were in a position to give advice to Bravo and Sears, it would be: by all means, should he actually win tomorrow, hand Ilan the title "Top Chef". But don't give him a prize for his aggression, and let it be known precisely why.

PS: I realize the Finale occurred more than a month ago and that it is only just airing now. However, it's never too late in my book: if the folks at Sears didn't know about "Hairgate" before the episode aired, there are ways to show their displeasure. At the very least, they could withdraw their TC sponsorship, etc.

I think Sears should withdraw its support for "Top Chef" because almost every single contestant has trashed the KENMORE equipment in their post-show interviews.

I've heard the chefs complain that the KENMORE kitchen was inferior and sub-standard and the equipment didn't perform up to par or always broke down.

It's hilarious that Sears is using their pictires to sell the KENMORE crap.
