The very second I saw her taking all the suggestions of Casey's instead of cooking her dishes, I knew she was in trouble. I was so sad to see the outcome, and know she was heartbroken.Team Hootie!
i was heartbroken too...but c'mon, no fix here. you could argue for stefan winning over hosea (and toby young did!) but carla went into this KNOWING she needed to listen to her own voice, and seeming to have learned the lesson that sticking to her guns was how she would win...and then she folded like an origami fan when faced with a little undermining from casey. she need to own that...and the sad thing is she clearly did, immediately. she took responsibility. that was what was so heartbreaking. it was almost shakespearean in its ironic, sorrowful grandeur! or like a greek hero and his tragic flaw... a woman carla's age on the skillet-doux blog also wisely pointed out that carla's failing was that of so many american women of her generation (and i'd add probably successive ones too): she was too agreeable. that's how girls have always been taught: be a good girl, play nicely with others, don't be too assertive. great chefs need to say NO and risk unpopularity; a great restaurant isn't a democracy built by consensus. (i'm trying NOT to say that great chefs need balls or to be a dick! no male metaphors!) being a get-along girl lands you in third place. you're still beloved, you still have your integrity, but you LOST. wah. such an anticlimatic ending to the season.
I really do love the show, but it reeks of "tv first, food second". Radica was a great chef who had much promise but they knocked her off because of her "hosting" issues. Is this "top chef" or "top host"? They didnt want Leah and her kissing games with Boresea to end, clearly !! This has happened throught the show where Stefan and Fabio should have been knocked off but were kept because of their "characters" ...i hate that !
Marjorie, good points, but you forgot the key they turn this into cheating. Tom TOLD them ALL to LISTEN to their soux chefs. And then when he learn of his error, he did not step up to fix it he just took advantage of it. If you listen to all the other Blogs, incuding the MIGHTY Cassey's, you even get the thought that this might have even been more of a set up to Kill the black woman chance at winning this. Look at Top Chef History is that list and Tom becomes very might Racist. Just a thought.

I wonder how she feel abotu her friend Tom, (yes, Head Judge) clearly fixing, (yes cheating) to finals of Top Chef?
The whole outcome was fixed! There is no way Hosea should have won

Hootie forever!
Charles:
Go back under your rock.
Carla is wonderful and is a winner anyway.
By the way, the race card can't be used anymore. It's outdated.
You will have to look for a new excuse for your failings.
Tom Coldouchio has become my least favorite judge after this finale.
ASSHOLE.
